Winner announcements

Every prize the game has awarded, rendered from the record we publish. A winner appears here after we have written to them — never before.

How a name reaches this page

The game scores lineage — how far a shared link actually travels, out to a depth published in advance. When a period closes, its standings are frozen, and the frozen board is the one that counts.

Then three things happen, in this order. A prize is attached to a rank. We write to that winner by hand. Only then does the acknowledgment appear here.

Nobody should read about their own prize on a public page first.

That order is why a closed period can list fewer names than it has prizes. However many winners are still to be told is printed next to the list, so the gap is a stated number rather than something you have to notice.

The record

Nothing has been announced yet. No period has closed with a prize attached, so there is nothing here to publish. This page fills in when the first one does.

An empty record you can check is worth more than a full one you cannot.

This page is a snapshot we publish by hand, not a live query. It makes no request when you open it, so reading an announcement leaves no trace with us.

Reading this page

  • Handle — every winner has one: a pseudonymous label derived from their install, like astro-heron-1420. Nobody picks it and it is not a username.
  • Display name — shown only where a winner asked for one, and only while that choice still stands. The handle is printed alongside, because display names can repeat and handles cannot.
  • Preset — a winner may choose an avatar from a fixed set. The artwork is not on this page yet, so the preset is named instead of drawn.
  • Not yet announced — how many winners we have not written to. A count, never a name.
  • Voided — a closed period whose result was revoked. It stays listed with an empty result rather than disappearing.

What is on this page is what the record holds: a rank, a handle, a display name where one was chosen, and the prize. The scoring behind it is on the seasons page — published before a season starts and unchanged afterwards — and the counting is on the transparency page.
